Angels inspire primary school girls to give AFL a crack!

26 Feb 2016 by Emily Purcell

On Thursday morning, Perth Angels Kelsey and Stephanie joined John Allan from Belmont Junior Football Club at Kewdale Primary School Assembly to act as role models for young girls who are interested in giving footy a go. Kelsey explained to the girls that starting next year there will be an all female Eagles and Dockers, which she says got a great reaction from the girls!

John explained that it was a great opportunity to promote gender equality in junior football. “One day we will look back at this humble beginning with pride, when the impact on junior and senior football clubs are truly felt as a result of these initial steps in development”. John also reported that “the presentation was extremely well received by the principle and was all-round a very positive experience today, I cant say enough about it!”.

The Perth Angels will continue to partner with Belmont JFC along with representatives from Belmont Senior Footy Club to present a responsible and united pathway from pre-primary to year 12 and beyond to the parents, kids and schools in our district. Well done to Steph and Kelsey for making such a positive impression on Belmont JFC, Kewdale Primary, and on our future women’s AFL stars!
